Learning to develop a Rule of Life is about arranging your life to actually be abundant - rather than tired, busy or frustrated. By clarifying your life’s vision, spiritual gifts and desires, your life in Christ can be transformed in concrete ways. In this workshop, you will bring clarity to your deepest values, most important relationships and highest priorities, and feel motivated to remove what may be wasting time and depleting energy. We will learn to model Jesus' self awareness he teaches in John 10.

Teaching the Story of Scripture

Because we believe that the Bible is the true story of the world, we want to be faithful to teach the story accurately. Many of those we disciple are not as familiar with the true story and tend to see Scripture as a series of disconnected short stories rather than one unified narrative that reveals God's purpose for us and all of creation. In this workshop Elizabeth will provide a helpful resource and outline so that you can teach others the overarching narrative and themes of the Bible as well as helping others find their own place in the larger story of Scripture.

Elizabeth Woodson is a passionate Bible teacher whose deepest desire is to know Christ and make him known! Mothering and Ministering: Is Balance Possible? (a panel discussion)

Making time to study the Word, especially to lead and teach, is valuable. But for those of us in the season of mothering young children, finding the right time and balance to be faithful to the Word and faithful to our families can be particularly challenging. How do we balance being first and foremost a daughter of God and on mission for the Kingdom, knowing that our families are a very valuable expression of our mission but not always our only mission? Joined by a panel of women who are faithfully teaching in their own community, Caroline will guide us through a helpful discussion that will speak encouragement and creativity into finding balance in ministry and mothering. This is not a one-size-fits-all solution, but a glimpse into different perspectives in the midst of this season of life.

Caroline will be joined by Colleen Searcy, Angie Likens, Kelsey Hency, Melissa Deming and Aina Carruth.

Caroline Smiley lives in Dallas, Texas with her husband and three young children where she teaches Bible study at her home church, Eastside Community Church. Her passion is making theology accessible to the church, especially women. Caroline is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in New Testament.

Living and Loving with Hope in the Midst of Suffering and Trauma

Do you feel inadequate in that moment, or fear causing more damage in trauma related counseling? We believe in the hope of the ultimate healer; but how do we share that with the women we are walking with? In this workshop, Angie Durham will answer these questions so you can understand and recognize trauma symptoms and know how to best walk alongside suffering women with wisdom and compassion.

Angie Durham is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, and a Licensed Professional Counselor (LMFTS and LPCS). She has been a Biblical Counselor at North Texas Christian Counseling since 2007. She is also a Care Deacon at The Village Church in Flower Mound and has two sons.

Developing a Philosophy of Teaching

Often times, we find ourselves in a position of teaching others the Word but haven't quite developed our “voice.” And often times we have been faithfully teaching for a while, but we need a reminder on the biblical and theological foundation for why we teach God’s Word. If this resonates with you, then this workshop will encourage your heart and give context for creating your own philosophy of teaching. You will develop a mission statement for yourself in order to help guide, encourage and reorient your heart around why you do what you do.
